FELLOWSHIP PROGRAMME AT CARE

The Rheumatology Fellowship Program is run under the stewardship of young and dynamic Dr. Padmanabha Shenoy. Dr. P Shenoy is one of the most renowned Rheumatologist and Immunologist in our country. He is an alumni of both JIPMER and SGPGI institute and was recently awarded “Young Rheumatologist award “at IRACON 2018 held at Guwahati.

  • The program provides organized training over two years, sufficient for the trainee to acquire proficiency as a consultant in Rheumatology.

  • The program provides both the facilities and clinical experience with supervision to achieve this goal. Moreover, the environment and resources for fellows to gain experience in the diagnosis and treatment of patients in a wide range of Rheumatic diseases.

  • Apart from a strong emphasis on obtaining a broad clinical experience from a spectrum of Rheumatologic diseases, longitudinal patient care and primary decision-making responsibilities with faculty support is provided.

  • Focused experiences in the form of tertiary care referral specialty clinics, including SLE, Psoriatic arthritis, Ankylosing spondylitis, Rheumatoid arthritis and Soft tissue Rheumatism.

Dr. Shenoy works closely with full-time staff, researching latest medical breakthroughs and clinical trials available to Rheumatology patients. The fellowship program provides an opportunity to develop both clinical and research skills in Rheumatology. The diversity of the local patient population, as well as the tertiary care referral population for rare Rheumatic diseases ensures that our trainees have a well-rounded experience which more than adequately prepares them for diagnosis and management of all Rheumatic diseases.

  • The program provides sufficient specific experience for the fellow to acquire skills in examination of the musculoskeletal system, the development of differential diagnoses for complexes of symptoms and signs related to Rheumatic disease, the diagnostic aspiration and analysis by light and compensated polarized microscopy of synovial fluid, the therapeutic injection of diarthrodial joints, bursae, tenosynovial structures and enthuses.

  • Additional experience is provided in the interpretation of pathologic material, bone and joint imaging techniques, bone density interpretation, nailfold capillary microscopy, arthroscopy indications.

  • Evidence based use of disease modifying anti Rheumatic drugs and biological.

  • Formal instruction in the major areas of Rheumatology is provided by a series of lectures, journal club and trial discussions. It is also supplemented by Rheumatology Grand Rounds where there are interactive question answer sessions with bedside demonstrations.

We invite fellows who are accomplished in internal medicine graduates from reputable residency programs with a keen interest in clinical research. Fellows are trained as investigative diagnosticians, cutting-edge researchers and compassionate clinicians. Numerous research training opportunities are available for clinical, translational, and basic science research.
